ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General (retired) Muhammad Saeed has officially taken charge as Chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), bringing with him nearly four decades of distinguished military service.
Following his appointment, Lt. Gen. Saeed met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss WAPDA’s ongoing projects and strategic development plans.
With extensive leadership, operational, and institutional reform experience, Lt. Gen. Saeed has held several key positions in the Pakistan Army, including Chief of General Staff, Corps Commander V Corps (Karachi), President of the National Defence University (NDU), and Director-General Analysis at the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
He has commanded an infantry brigade, regiment, and division, and served as Military Secretary to then-Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. As DG Rangers (Sindh), he led major security operations in Karachi, significantly enhancing law and order in collaboration with police and intelligence agencies, and advocated for legal reforms to curb street crime.
In 2021, he assumed command of V Corps and was later awarded the prestigious Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his outstanding service. His appointment to WAPDA is expected to inject strategic vision and administrative strength into Pakistan’s key water and power projects.
